Ren Bo Nian, whose original name was Ren Yi, was also known as Ren Run, Zi Cizhuan, and Hao Xiaolou. Later he changed his name to Yi and his courtesy name to Bo Nian. His other aliases include Shanyin Daoshang Xingzhe and Shou Daoshi. He was known by his courtesy name. He was a famous painter from the late Qing Dynasty, born in Hangwu Mountain, Shan Yin, Shaoxing Prefecture, Zhejiang Province (present-day Gualik Town, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City).
