The Guallenguan is a popular type of jar from the Ming Dynasty, named for its melon-ribbed shape. Large quantities were produced during the Jiajing and Wanli reigns. This jar features a flared mouth, sloping shoulders, a narrow waist, and a short ring foot. The body is melon-ribbed, sturdy and charming. The neck is decorated with a fret pattern, and there are traces of trimming on the base. The base glaze is uneven.
