Straight-mouthed, pot-bellied, glazed mouth, sloping shoulders. This jar is named for its resemblance to a lotus seed, a common shape in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The entire vessel is glazed inside and out in white. It is mainly decorated with incised lion-and-peony patterns, with a band of ruyi cloud head patterns on the shoulder and intertwined leaf patterns on the body. The knife work is crisp and the decoration is typical. It is a fine example of the period.
