Eggplant purple is a type of color glaze fired in the imperial kilns during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is named after the color of eggplant. It uses manganese as a coloring agent and is fired at a kiln temperature of around 850 degrees. Its color is purplish-blue, the glaze is thick and lustrous, and the glaze color comes in two shades: deep purple is purplish-black, and light purple is light purple. Those without cracks are considered superior.
