A Qianlong period famille rose openwork 'Ji Qing You Yu' revolving vase

The Qianlong period pink and green famille rose openwork revolving bottle has an outwardly flared mouth, a short, thick neck, elephant ear-shaped plastic decorations on both sides of the neck, sloping shoulders, a bulging belly, and a ring foot. A small bottle with a straight belly is nested inside the bottle and connects to the neck of the outer bottle, allowing it to rotate.

The bottle has an outward-sloping mouth, a short, thick neck with molded elephant ears on either side, sloping shoulders, a bulging belly, and a ring foot. Inside the bottle is a smaller bottle with a straight belly, connected to the neck of the outer bottle and capable of rotation. The small bottle features pink and white glaze. The neck and shoulder each have 12 openings, arranged symmetrically. The openings on the neck contain the characters for "ten thousand years" and "jiazi" in regular script, and the Heavenly Stems in seal script; the openings on the shoulder contain the Earthly Branches in seal script. The belly is decorated with yellow-ground, incised缠枝花纹 (winding branch floral pattern), and features four openwork windows depicting four seasonal garden scenes. Through these windows, one can see figures of children at play on the inner bottle; some are riding horses, others are playing with a Taiji flag, holding parasols, beating drums, or carrying lanterns, each in a unique pose. Gold is applied to the elephant ears, rim, and edges of the openwork windows. The inside of the bottle is glazed with malachite green. The base is marked with a six-character seal in underglaze blue reading "Made in the Qianlong Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty."

The mouth and neck of this bottle are both rotatable, and the openings on the neck and shoulder together form a perpetual calendar. The bottle body requires three separate firings, and during the manufacturing process, the shrinkage ratio of each part must be carefully controlled to avoid flaws during assembly, bonding, and supplementary coloring. This decorative piece is a new type specially made after the eighth year of Qianlong's reign (1743).
