Inscription: For my elder brother Zhongtai, Zhang Bi of Yuncun.

Zhang Bi, courtesy names Yuncun and Shizheng, art name Zuoting, was from Yexian County. He passed the imperial examination in the 24th year of Daoguang's reign (1844), ranking 97th in the second class. He was a Hanlin scholar during the Daoguang era and served as a Vice Director in the Ministry of War, and previously as Tongzhi (Assistant Prefect) of Yuhuan Department in Zhejiang. He was skilled in calligraphy, imitating Yan Zhenqing's works, and mastered the true secrets of ancient calligraphy brushwork. He Shaoji commented: "His calligraphy surpasses mine." He was also good at painting rocks. He died at the age of sixty-seven. Previously collected by the Cultural Relics Company.
