Revolving vases are often used as New Year's decorations or gifts. The swastika pattern at the center of this auction item's belly carries an auspicious meaning, and coupled with the dragon boat motif on the inner vase, it was highly likely a tribute for the Dragon Boat Festival. The firing of revolving vases is time-consuming and labor-intensive, with high production costs, making surviving examples even rarer. This auction item fully demonstrates the exquisite craftsmanship of overglaze enamels and the mature carving techniques of the Qianlong period. Its intricate manufacturing process, as well as the rich and vibrant colors and decorative methods, are all works of meticulous refinement. Furthermore, revolving vases with painted images on their inner bottles are also rare among surviving examples. This piece can be regarded as a representative of fine craftsmanship from the Qing Dynasty. On one hand, this auction item showcases the exquisite workmanship of the Qing Dynasty, and on the other hand, it also reflects the self-style that the Qianlong Emperor wished to express through this type of porcelain.
