The jar has a flared rim, short neck, broad shoulders, and a tapering body with 12 melon-like lobes, a ring foot, and an unglazed base without a mark. Its elegant shape resembles a pomegranate, hence it is named "Pomegranate Zun". The jar is decorated with underglaze red on a white ground throughout. The exterior features ten layers of patterns. Near the mouth rim, there is a key-fret pattern, followed by continuous ruyi cloud-head patterns. The patterns on the shoulder, from top to bottom, are: deformed lotus petal patterns with broken-branch lotus motifs, cloud patterns, and continuous ruyi cloud-head patterns with broken-branch lotus motifs. The main decoration on the belly consists of twelve groups of seasonal flowers, each paired with scholar's rocks. The three layers of patterns on the lower body, from top to bottom, are: deformed lotus petal patterns with chrysanthemum blooms, key-fret patterns, and deformed lotus petal patterns with broken-branch lotus motifs. The foot rim is adorned with scroll grass patterns. This jar has a heavy body, lustrous glaze, robust and elegant form, uniform color, dense and clearly layered decoration, and delicate and vivid depiction of the main motif—the four-season flowers. It is a masterpiece.
