This cup has a straight mouth, deep belly, and deep black iron foot with a neatly trimmed ring foot. The glaze is brownish-black, with fine hare's fur markings in gold and copper. Under the light, the iridescence is dazzling, making it extremely rare and highly sought after. The name "Tenmoku" for Jian ware comes from the story of a Japanese monk who traveled to China during the Song Dynasty, studied Buddhism and Zen on Tianmu Mountain in Lin'an, and encountered Jian ware. Since then, Jian ware has been revered as a treasure, collected and appreciated, and used with reverence in tea ceremonies.
