This thumb ring is made of Hetian white jade seed material. The jade is delicate, its luster like solidified fat, and the entire piece is pure, clean, and lustrous, without flaws or cracks. With simple and smooth lines, it wins purely by its quality, and can be called a top-grade item.
The thumb ring evolved from jade. The Shuowen Jiezi states: 'A thumb ring is for shooting, used to hold the bowstring.' It is a specialized tool used to draw the bowstring when shooting arrows, worn on the archer's right thumb to protect it from being cut by the bowstring. After the Qing Dynasty established its rule in the Central Plains, the thumb ring transformed from a practical tool into a symbol of status and rank, and jade thumb rings became objects for the Eight Banners' children to admire and display their aristocratic identity. Comes with its original silver box.
