Collection Name: Qing Dynasty Jade Plaque with Dragon Motif

This ornament is made of white jade, lustrous and delicate. Partially stained with red. The shape of this piece is an axe, with a pair of chilong dragons climbing on the upper part, and banana leaf patterns carved on the axe head. The character 'fu' (axe) is homophonous with 'fu' (mansion). This combined pattern is known as 'Dragon in the Mansion,' symbolizing auspicious meanings such as 'a noble son born in the family, and generations can be ennobled.' The entire piece uses excellent material, with extraordinarily exquisite carving work. While imitating antiquity, it also shows innovation, with ingenious conception, auspicious meaning, and great craftsmanship.
